Yibin University

Yibin University was Authorized by the Ministry of Education of China，on May 11, 2001 as a comprehensive university under the direct administration of Sichuan province. It is located in Yibin, Which is well-known as the first city along the great Yangtze River.

As his home town university, the former Chinese Premier, Li Peng, Chairman of the Standing Committee of the National People’s Congress autographed the university name during his first inspection. Qiao shi, former Chairman of the Standing Committee of the National People’s Congress also autographed his encouragement for the university. The great concern of the leaders of the state government has effectively promoted the construction and development of Yibin University.

There are seven basic fields of study in terms of literature, science, engineering, management, economics, law, education with 13,000 students recruited from 28 provinces, municipalities and autonomous regions in the whole country. Ever since its founding the university has been honored with a lot of titles, such as the Unit of National civilization, the model School of the National language and literal work, Advanced Unit of the Nation-wide Mass sports, the Top 400 of The National Forestations as well as the Advanced Unit of the Nation-wide Moral Civilization etc.

In the new historical period of development, the new leading body of Yibin University has been guiding all the staff members to further the improvement of our thought and the promotion of our ideal. Following the guideline of “Higher Education Act”, the state’s educational policy of constructing regional comprehensive universities of unique features, the university authority has set up an overall system of ideological management ,personnel training and local service offering a clear-cut answer to these two fundamental questions of “what kind of people to train and how to train people” and “what kind of university to manage and how to manage a good university “, and determining an overall thought to direct the development of the university scientifically as well.

Armed with a brand new ideal, a new expansion and a new achievement, all the university staff members and students have been striving for a new leap forward to build our university into a regional comprehensive university based in Yibin city, serving the whole province and facing the whole world with considerable influence in the world of Sichuan higher education, to be noted within the country.

Yibin University has established cooperative relationships with a couple of universities in USA, Japan, Australia, Malaysia, Canada, Korea and so on. By far, we have enrolled exchange students only. At present, we plan to enroll about 20 international students of Chinese Language study.
